Does Screw Crew have ads, and when do they show?

Screw Crew has no ads inside a level. The game screen carries no banner, and nothing pops up while you are unscrewing. An ad break can only come once a level is over, on the way to the next one. The first few levels of each session have no break at all, breaks never come after every level or back to back, and there is a daily cap. When no partner ad is ready, a short OvO.games promo may show in that slot instead. Every ad is labelled Ad or Sponsored. The other kind is optional: after a win you can watch a short video to double the tokens you earned, or simply tap Next level. To switch off break ads and banners, get the OvO Pass or the one-time No Ads purchase in the shop; optional reward videos may still be offered, but they never play on their own. How do you play Screw Crew, the main pick?

Screw Crew is a 3D screw puzzle with 200 levels, and the first 40 are free for everyone. Pastel plates are stacked on a board and pinned with coloured screws. Two OvOs at the top each hold a box for one colour, and each box takes three screws. Tap a screw that nothing covers and it spins out into the box of its colour. A screw with no matching box goes to the tray, which has five slots. A full box is carried off by its OvO, and when a plate loses its last screw it drops away. A level is lost only when the tray fills up, and every level is built so it can be solved without boosters. If you get stuck, Hint, +Slot and Wrench cost tokens you earn by winning, and Restart is free.

Chick Sort: a calm colour sort with the same ad rules

Chick Sort is a branch sort with 230 levels, also with the first 40 free. OvOs perch on branches around a tree trunk. Tap a branch to pick up the OvOs of one colour at its tip, then tap another branch, and they hop across if it is empty or ends in the same colour. Four of one colour on a branch cheer and fly away. Like Screw Crew it is about holding space: keep one branch empty and the hard levels open up. A level ends when no legal move is left, and you get three free Undos in every level before Undo costs tokens. Hint, +Branch and Skip are there too. Ads follow the same rule as every OvO game, with breaks only between levels.

Peep Pop 2: a match puzzle when you want a change

Peep Pop 2 is a pastel match-3 with 300 levels, the first 40 free. Every piece is an OvO. Swap two neighbours to line up three or more of a colour. Four in a line makes a rocket, an L or T shape makes a bomb and five makes a rainbow egg, and swapping two power-ups together sets off a combo. Each level has a goal such as collecting a colour, cracking ice or freeing OvOs from bubbles, and you have a set number of moves to reach it. There is no clock. It is less of a holding puzzle than Screw Crew and more about chain reactions, so it works well as a break between screw levels. Hammer and Shuffle cost tokens and Restart is free.

Nest Guard: for when you want strategy instead of a tray

Nest Guard is the odd one out. It is a merge tower defence with 200 stages, first 40 free. Critters walk a winding path toward the OvO nest, and you tap Summon to place defender OvOs on stone pads beside it. Drag two identical defenders together to merge them into a stronger one, up to seven stars. The waves move in real time, so it is busier than a screw puzzle, and a stage is lost when the nest runs out of its three hearts. It still scratches the same planning itch: where you place and merge matters more than speed. Meteor, Re-roll and Golden cost tokens, and Restart is free. As in the other games, no ad appears while a stage is running.

Browser or app: do you need to download a screw puzzle?

No. All four games run in the web browser at ovo.games on an iPhone, an Android phone, a tablet or a computer, so there is nothing to install. There is also an OvO.games app if you prefer one. You need a connection to open a game, and on a phone Screw Crew plays upright. If you sign in, your progress follows you between devices. Be careful with unofficial modded APK files that promise a screw puzzle with no ads. They come from outside the official stores, can carry malware or ask for permissions a puzzle does not need, may break or lose your saves, and usually break the game's terms. A browser game or an official no-ads option is the safer route.
