How to play Stack Tower: rules, controls and tips

Updated 4 min read

Quick answer

In Stack Tower a block slides in from the left or right above your tower. Tap anywhere to drop it. Any part that hangs over the edge is sliced off, so the next block is smaller. Line a block up perfectly for bonus points, and five perfects in a row start growing it back. One full miss ends the run.

Stack Tower is a one-tap arcade game on OvO.games. Runs are short, the rules fit in one sentence, and getting a few blocks higher than last time is the whole fun. Here is how it works and how to build taller.

How do you play Stack Tower?

Every run starts with one block on a small floating island, with two OvO friends standing at its edges. Your own OvO rides each new block as it slides in.

  1. Stack Tower on a phone: a pink block slides in from the left above a purple block, with the score at 0 and Sunset in 40 at the topStep 1: Watch the new block slide in. Blocks come from the left and the right in turn, and each one swings back and forth over the tower without speeding up while you wait.
  2. Stack Tower on a phone: the pink block slides across above the purple block, still off to the left, with the score at 0Step 2: Tap anywhere on the screen to drop it. On a computer you can also press Space, Enter, the Down arrow or S. The part that lands on the tower stays, and the part that hangs over the edge is sliced off and tumbles away.
  3. Stack Tower on a phone: the words Perfect x2 float above a tower of purple, pink and orange blocks while a yellow block slides inStep 3: Line a block up exactly with the one below for a Perfect. Nothing is sliced, you get two points instead of one, and each perfect in a row adds to the Perfect counter.
  4. Step 4: Keep going until a block misses the tower completely. That block falls and the run is over, and the score at the top is your result for that run.

What makes a perfect drop worth it?

Perfects are the heart of the game. From the fifth perfect in a row on, every perfect grows your block back a little, so a narrow tower can widen again and your OvO cheers Block restored. Every fifth perfect in a row also gives you an egg. Eggs are the in-game reward you spend in the wardrobe on costumes for your OvO, and they are never sold for money. Because a slice makes every block after it smaller, a good streak early in the run is worth more than a lucky save later on.

What changes as the tower gets taller?

The sky changes with your height. You start in the Day sky, reach Sunset at 40 blocks and Night at 80, and the top of the screen counts down to Sunset; at night it shows your next goal. The blocks also get faster the higher you climb. Some blocks are special. Ice blocks slide faster than normal. Gift blocks give you three eggs when you land them, or five on a perfect. Higher up, breezy gusts make a group of blocks speed up and slow down as they swing, so watch the leaves that warn you. A small celebration marks every 25 blocks.

Tips to build a taller Stack Tower

Tap on the rhythm, not on the picture. Each block moves at an even speed, so count the swing once and tap as its edge meets the edge below. Don't rush the first blocks: they are the slowest, and a wide start makes everything after it easier. When the tower gets thin, slow down and aim for perfects to grow it back instead of tapping fast. On gust blocks, wait for a calm moment in the swing. Turn on Shapes in Settings if you want a symbol on ice, gift and gust blocks. Before a run you can buy a Shield with tokens, which forgives your first miss, and after a miss you can continue once per run.

Is Stack Tower free and can you play it on a phone?

Stack Tower is free to play. Shield and Continue cost OvO tokens, but you never need them to play. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers and in the OvO.games app, and there is a Daily tower that is the same for everyone that day. If you sign in, your best score and costumes follow you from one device to the next.
