A tile matching game for adults who want a calm puzzle

Updated 5 min read

Quick answer

Tile Trio on OvO.games is a free tile matching game that suits adults who want a calm puzzle. You tap free tiles into a 7-slot tray and three of a kind pop. No clock ends a level, every one of its 200 levels can be solved, and the first 40 are free.

Tile Trio level 1 on a desktop: one lemon tile left on the board, two lemons in the tray on the right, Undo, Hint, Shuffle and Restart buttons below

Plenty of tile games are built to rush you. Tile Trio and Hexa Nest on OvO.games move at your pace: you only lose a level when you run out of room (the tray in Tile Trio, the board in Hexa Nest), and you can stop between levels whenever you like. Both run in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, so you can fit a level into a short break.

What makes Tile Trio a good fit for grown-up players?

The only way to lose a Tile Trio level is to fill all seven tray slots without making a trio. There is a clock, but it only decides your stars: clear the board within the level's par time for three stars, a bit slower for two, and you still win with one. The clock stops when you open a menu or switch away from the game. Every level is generated with a winning order of taps built in, so a lost level is never a trick board. A HARD or CHILL tag on the level chip tells you what kind of round is coming before you start. If you want small goals, the game also keeps a sticker album: the first time you pop a fruit, sweet or toy, its sticker goes into the album in Settings. Stickers are never bought and never random.

Are the tiles easy to read?

Tile Trio level 2 on a phone: a grid of cherry, lemon and watermelon tiles, one watermelon in the 7-slot tray, booster buttons at the bottom

Tile Trio uses large cream tiles with one clear picture each, such as a lemon, peach, cherry or watermelon slice. A tile you can take sits raised with a deeper edge and shadow. A covered tile shows the same picture slightly smaller and shaded violet, so you can plan ahead without guessing what is underneath. If telling colours apart is hard for you, turn on Shapes on colours in Settings and a small symbol appears in the corner of each tile kind. On a phone held sideways where the tiles would get too small, the game asks you to turn the phone upright and pauses the star timer until you do. On a wide screen the tray moves into a column beside the board.

How do you play a relaxed first round of Tile Trio?

Level 1 walks you through the rules with short tips above the tray, so you do not need to read anything first. The first levels are small boards with only a few kinds of fruit, which makes them a gentle way to learn how the tray fills. Take your time on each tap. Nothing is lost by stopping to look at the board, and the steps below follow what you see on screen in the first levels.

  1. Tile Trio level 1 on a phone: lemon, peach and cherry tiles on the board, two cherries in the tray and the tip Keep the 7 slots from filling upStep 1: Open Tile Trio at ovo.games and start level 1. Tap any raised tile and it flies into the tray at the bottom, next to tiles of the same kind.
  2. Tile Trio on a phone with a few lemon and peach tiles left on the board and two peaches waiting in the trayStep 2: Look for a picture you can see three times before you tap it. Two peaches already in the tray need one more peach, and the third one makes them pop.
  3. Tile Trio on a phone with an empty board, a lemon in the tray and a Sticker: Lemon! message beside a smiling lemonStep 3: Clear the last tiles to win. The first time you pop a new item you get its sticker, like the lemon shown here.
  4. Step 4: If the tray gets tight, use Undo before you try anything else. The first Undo in each level is free, and Restart is always free. Hint and Shuffle cost OvO Tokens.

How does the difficulty change as you go?

Tile Trio has 200 levels and changes theme every ten: a mint fruit board, pink sweets, sky toys and lilac charms. Every fifth level is a breather with fewer layers and fewer kinds of tile, and every tenth is a hard level with an extra layer and more kinds. The rest sit in between and get a little tougher over time. In practice that means a run of comfortable levels, a stiffer one, and then a rest.

What if you want a slower tile puzzle than Tile Trio?

Hexa Nest level 1 on a phone: an empty honeycomb, three egg-tile stacks in the tray and the tip Collect 10 of one colour on top and the OvOs hatch

Hexa Nest is a sorting puzzle played with egg tiles on a honeycomb board. A tray gives you three stacks at a time. You drag a stack onto an empty cell, and tiles with the same top colour flow together, sometimes in a chain. When ten of one colour gather on top, they hatch into OvOs. The level ends only if no empty cell is left after a move, and your stars count moves, not seconds. There is a Shapes on colours setting, the game follows your device's reduced motion and dark mode, and the buttons are large and easy to tap. Nest Mahjong, coming November 11, 2026, is a mahjong-style game with no timer: you tap two free tiles that show the same OvO. Its first 12 levels use unique pairs, so they cannot be lost.

How do free levels, ads and OvO Pass work?

Tile Trio and Hexa Nest each give you the first 40 levels free. OvO Pass is optional and unlocks every level. Ads can play between levels when you tap Next. On the win screen there is also an optional short video that doubles the tokens you just earned, and that offer is hidden if you have OvO Pass. Tokens buy boosters such as Hint and Shuffle, and you can skip boosters entirely. You can play free in the web browser at ovo.games on a phone, tablet or computer. The OvO.games app is on Google Play for Android, and an iPhone and iPad version is coming soon to the App Store.
