Peep Pop 2 Tips: Power-Ups, Combos and Goals

Quick answer

In Peep Pop 2 you swap neighbouring OvOs to line up three or more of a colour. Four in a line makes a rocket, an L or T shape makes a bomb, and five in a line makes a rainbow egg. The strongest strategy is to build power-ups first, then swap two power-ups together for a combo, while always playing toward the level goal rather than for score.

Peep Pop 2 is a pastel match-3 where every piece is a living OvO. If you have played match-3 games before, the basics will feel familiar, but most levels are won or lost on how well you create and combine power-ups within a limited number of moves. This guide covers the power-up rules, the combos worth saving for, and how to approach each type of goal across its 300 levels.

Games to try

The basics: swaps, matches and moves

Swap two neighbouring OvOs to line up three or more of the same colour, and they pop. New OvOs fall in from above to fill the gaps, which can create extra matches by chance. Each level gives you a set number of moves and a goal. Reach the goal before the moves run out and you win; any moves left at the end turn into rockets for extra score.

Because moves are limited, every swap should do one of two things: progress the goal directly, or set up a power-up that will progress it later. A match that does neither is usually a wasted move.

How to make each power-up

Peep Pop 2 has three power-ups, each created by a particular match shape:

  • Rocket: match four OvOs in a straight line.
  • Bomb: match OvOs in an L or T shape.
  • Rainbow egg: match five in a straight line.

Tap a power-up to fire it, or swap it with a neighbour. Before making an ordinary match, scan the board for a spot where moving one OvO would complete a longer line or an L shape. Spending one extra second looking often turns a plain three-match into a rocket.

Combos worth saving for

Swapping two power-ups together fires a combined effect that is much stronger than using them one by one. There are six power-up combinations in the game, and the most powerful is two rainbow eggs together, which clears the whole board.

The practical lesson: if two power-ups are near each other, try to bring them side by side instead of firing them separately. A rocket next to a bomb, or a rainbow egg next to anything, is often worth a setup move. Firing a single rocket early because it is there is one of the most common reasons players run short of moves at the end.

Playing to the goal: colours, ice and bubbles

Each level has a goal. Some ask you to collect a number of OvOs of a certain colour. Others ask you to crack ice, or to free OvOs trapped in bubbles.

For colour goals, look for matches of the needed colour first and remember that a rainbow egg swapped with that colour removes many of them at once. For ice, matches have to happen on the frozen cells, so focus your attention on those areas and use rockets to reach lines that are hard to match. For bubbles, make matches next to the bubbles to free the OvOs inside. Working from the bottom of the board can also help, because the cascade of falling OvOs gives you free matches above.

Reading the difficulty curve

Peep Pop 2 has 300 levels with a calmer level every 5th and a hard one every 10th. On a hard level, it is worth spending your first few moves building power-ups rather than chasing the goal immediately, because a single good combo can do the work of many ordinary matches. On calmer levels, you can play more freely and simply enjoy the cascades.

The candy garden and new OvO friends

Stars you earn on levels grow a candy garden through three stages, and a new OvO friend joins every 6 stars. That makes replaying an earlier level for a better result more meaningful than just chasing a number. Ending a level with moves to spare is the easiest way to boost your result, since leftover moves turn into rockets.

Boosters and how to play

When a level is close, two boosters can help. The Hammer knocks out a single piece of your choice, which is useful for removing a single blocker or finishing the last part of a goal. Shuffle rearranges the board when you cannot find a useful move. Both can be used with OvO Tokens.

Peep Pop 2 is free to play in your browser at ovo.games and in the OvO.games app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The first 40 levels are free for everyone with ads, and OvO Pass unlocks every level and removes ads. For another tile-based matching puzzle with a different feel, see our Tile Trio strategy guide.

Questions

How do I make a rainbow egg in Peep Pop 2?

Match five OvOs of the same colour in a straight line. An L or T shape makes a bomb instead, and four in a line makes a rocket.

What is the best power-up combo?

Swapping two rainbow eggs together clears the whole board. Any two power-ups swapped together make a stronger effect than firing them one at a time.

How do I free the OvOs trapped in bubbles?

Make matches right next to the bubbles. Each nearby match helps free the OvOs inside.

What happens to moves I do not use?

Moves left at the end of a level turn into rockets, which add extra score.
